The Pet-Friendly Audit

There's a difference between being pet-friendly on paper and being pet-friendly in practice.

Guests notice, and so do their reviews. I help hotels and hospitality brands find that gap and close it, using the same standard I hold my own product to.

Why Choose Tails & Tones to Elevate Your Pet Experience?

My approach comes from a Master of Arts in Sustainable Design, where my thesis looked closely at the pet industry through a systems thinking lens: how one decision, a bowl, a policy, a welcome kit, ripples out into guest experience, staff workload, and brand perception all at once. I'm not here to hand you a checklist and walk away. I'm here to understand what's already working, build on it, and map out both the quick wins and the longer-term strategy.

Piper has special needs that make it hard to know what 'dog-friendly' actually means before we arrive somewhere. We've fallen into that trap more times than I can count: stuck in an outdoor area with no shade or air conditioning, or a dog who was never so much as offered a bowl of water. That's the exact gap this audit exists to close.

Before building my first product, I interviewed more than 100 dog parents, including Greg Hoffman, Nike's former CMO, to understand what dog owners actually need, not what a brand assumes they need.

Why Now?

Recent hospitality industry research found that 58% of travellers plan to bring their pet along on trips, many of whom said they'd rather travel with their dog than with a friend. For most of these guests, that dog isn't an accessory, it's family. The properties that treat it that way are turning it into a genuine point of difference. The ones that don't are quietly losing repeat bookings to the ones that do.

Who This is For?

  • Hotels, resorts, and serviced apartments that already welcome pets and want to prove it

  • Hospitality groups repositioning a property as pet-friendly

  • Venues that want to get ahead of guest feedback about how pets and their owners are treated

  • Brands considering a genuine amenity partnership (bowls, bedding, welcome kits) who want the strategy in place first

Three Ways to Work Together

Every property is different, so every audit starts with a short call to find the right fit. Here's what's available.

Snapshot Audit

A fast, honest first read.

A half-day, on-site visit assessing what your pet-travelling guests actually experience: front desk, in-room, dining, and outdoor space. Delivered as a one-page summary within 48 hours: the five things to fix, and why they matter. No fluff, no fifty-page deck, just what to do next.

Full Pet-Friendly Audit

The flagship offer.

The same walkthrough, taken further: a full guest-journey audit, a review of how your online reputation compares to category leaders, and a written report with a step-by-step plan to close every gap we find, from the bowl on the floor to how your team greets a dog at check-in.

Audit + Implementation Partner

Done with you, not just handed to you.

Everything in the Full Audit, plus 90 days of direct access to me: sourcing the right amenities, drawing on my own hands-on product development experience, training your team to get it right every time, and a managed rollout, so you're left with a fully working pet-friendly experience, not just a report sitting in an inbox.

How It Works

  1. Book a call. A short conversation to understand your property and choose the right fit.

  2. Site visit or virtual walkthrough. Scheduled at your convenience.

  3. Your report is delivered, within the timeframe agreed on the call.

  4. If you want it done with you, we move into a 90-day implementation partnership.

Find Out How Pet-Friendly Your Property Really Is

Book a short call and let's talk about what a Pet-Friendly Audit could look like for your team.

Turnkey Partnership

The full experience, without lifting a finger.

Everything in the Audit + Implementation Partner tier, but fully done for you. I source, order, and install every physical piece your property needs to actually be pet-friendly, ramps, elevated bowls, potty stations, signage, whatever the audit calls for, built and fitted to your property's own design standards, not a generic add-on. I write your guest-facing pet policy and signage and train your team start to finish. What you get back isn't just a compliant policy, it's the kind of guest moment people photograph and post without being asked, the detail that shows up in five-star reviews and turns into the reason someone chooses you over a property that just allows dogs. You keep running your property. I hand you back a pet experience worth talking about.
